Alexander McQueen created a tribal inspired collection for AW/2001 titled 'Eshu'.
He took inspiration from the pre-colonial tribe of West Africa and looking at thier mythology; the name of the collection came from one of the Yoruba deities 'Eshu'
The Yoruba people had numerous body decorations and accessories made up of heavy steel and wooden bangles, pierced septa and lips can also be seen. McQueen has taken inspiration from this and incorporated this into his whole concept
McQueen uses some shocking and unusal accesrios we would not usally accosate with beauty yet it really captures you and the culture of the Yoruba people.
